Logan was born on Monday October 18th at 4:40am. Mom
was just past 28 weeks and Logan spent 58 days in the NICU
at Meritcare Hospital before joining us at home.

Logan fell asleep in my arms this morning
while I was burping him. He is growing up too fast. I want him to stay little. Yesterday I tried on a new shirt
that I had bought him and it was too short. It was a polo shirt that snapped
at the bottom. It was in the 3-6 month size.
I guess I’ll have to go back and get the bigger one. We had to buy
a new car seat yesterday too. He was getting too long for the other one.
Grandma and Grandpa are coming tonight. They are so anxious to see all
the smiles and how he giggles now.
April 20
We have been working on our tummy time and it is going better. He doesn’t get as fussy and sometimes actually seems to like it.
This week everything just seemed to click. He figured out if he keeps
his elbows underneath him he can get his head up really high. Today he got tired
of holding his head up and laid it on his left arm and pretty soon he had rolled over on his back.
For play time, we spread a blanket on the living room floor with a door
mirror propped against the couch. Then we position Logan so the mirror is on his left side. He
loves to watch himself. Last week he rolled from his back to his left side.

Today was Logan’s first bath in Mom’s bathtub. There has been a lot more splashing going on lately due to the detriment of Dad’s magazines in his
bathroom so we thought it was time to move. He wasn’t sure what to think
of it at first. It didn’t take long though and his little legs were moving
all about. Sometimes it looks like he is running.
He has discovered his fingers and they are always in the mouth, bath time was no exception. He doesn’t seem to have a favorite one that he sucks on all the time.
They are all flavored.
April 10
Logan slept for 7 hours last night in the hotel. We were
very impressed. He slept a lot more during the day that he usually does so we
weren’t sure how he would sleep. Logan had breakfast and we got ready and left. Our first stop was Ikea. We looked at furniture for Logan’s big boy room.
We ended up buying a corner desk hutch for our office at home. Daddy had
to do some serious rearranging to make it all fit in the car.
We ate lunch at the Macaroni Gill.
This was my first experience breastfeeding in public. We thought he might
get hungry so we had asked to sit away from everyone else. That helped make it
easier. I ended up eating at the same time as Logan. Then
when Logan was done, Daddy had to take him into the bar to check
on golf. The Masters was on. We
found out later that Tiger won. Yeah!
We stopped at the outlet again on the way home. I have been hoping to find a fleece sweatshirt for Logan. I wanted one from the Gap,
but they didn’t have any. We found a fleece jacket at the Children’s
Place for $2.80! The colors were pretty picked over so we had to go with orange. Daddy likes it and it will work well! I
bought one for now and one for next year too since they were so cheap.
Logan slept most of the way home except for about the last
15 minutes. We had so much fun and it was nice to get out of town.
April 9
We are off to Minneapolis for our first family trip! Yeah! We are going to Kaia Johnson’s first birthday
party! Logan slept in the car the whole way there.
We stopped in Albertville at the outlets for about an hour and Logan kept right on sleeping. Daddy picked
out 6 new bibs for us at the Carter’s outlet. You can never have too many
bibs! Of course we had to stop at Logan’s favorite store, Babies R Us. He always seems to need something. Today we bought a Baby
Bjorn to carry Logan in. The stroller wasn’t so convenient at the outlet mall. A lot of the isles are just too narrow for the stroller. We
bought some baby spoons and bowls for later on. They have a nice Mommies room
at Babies R Us so Logan ate there.
Logan
can wear outfits now that we don't have any cords, before he just wore sleepers. He
looks much older in shirts and pants. I am having so much fun dressing him in
the little shirts and pants. Since we are new to wearing outfits...I forgot to
pack socks for him. OOPS! Luckily,
we were able to borrow a pair from Kaia.
Both sets of grandparents were at Kaia’s birthday party and us. The family who does daycare for her stopped by for cake. Logan and I missed present opening because he decided he was hungry.
It was fun to buy little girl clothes. She got some fun toys. They
had made a nice dinner followed by two birthday cakes! Kaia is crawling all over
and walking with help. She liked Logan. We had
fun at the party. It was so nice to see our friends again. I can’t believe Kaia is one already. It won’t
be long and we’ll be the ones having the party.
April 8
Our first night without the monitor went pretty well. Mom and Dad only checked on him a few times, but Mom didn't sleep very well. He slept in again until 7:20. Maybe
this will be his new routine. We like it!
We saw Dawnette at physical therapy again today.
She said his head is almost perfectly rounded. It looks like he is still
favoring looking right. We need to position him at play time so that he has to
look left. We also need to keep working on tummy time. He doesn’t like it and starts to fuss right after you put him down.
Tummy time will make his neck and upper body stronger.
April 7
Big Day! Dr. Sara Lien told
us we don’t have to wear our monitor anymore! Yeah!! The download was from February 15 thru April 4 and there were no apnea spells on it. (The oxygen was completely taken away on March 1.) We are
so excited! Logan is also growing like crazy! He weighs 14 pounds and is 25 inches long. On the preemie
growth chart he is at the 75th percentile for weight and 95th for height. We will have to look for a new car seat soon; he is almost too long for his already.
He is three months adjusted age today. (That’s how old he would be had he not decided to come out so early.)
His development is based on his adjusted age. He is right on track with
development. He looks around a lot and reacts to noises. He is starting to coo more and we think sometimes he giggles. He
likes to play with his hands. During the next month Dr, Lien said he will start
to become more aware of his arms and reach for objects and possibly roll over. We
are still working on tummy time. He doesn’t love it. He can lift his head up a little bit, but is not pushing up on his arms yet. He had his last RSV shot and his six month shots today too. Thank
goodness there are no more shots for 6 months.
Last night, Logan ate at 10:00 pm then went to sleep about 11:30. He usually gets up around
5:00
for his first breakfast. He didn’t wake up until 7:40. I woke
up about every half hour starting at 6:00 to check on him. Sometimes, it is a relief
to have the monitor. I just have to go peek in the door and make sure the lights
are blinking to know he is still breathing. Tomorrow could be a long night without
the monitor.
Dr. Sara says I don't need no stinkin' monitor! |

March 27
The Easter Bunny made a visit to our house for the first time this year!
Unfortunately, the hat he brought Logan was too small.
Grandma and
Grandpa were here to help celebrate. They filled Easter eggs with coins for Logan’s piggy bank. Next year, we will have a big Easter
egg hunt.

Kristi came to play with us today since
she is on spring break. We had so much fun!
Kristi got to feed him and help give him a bath. Then we went to lunch
at the Olive Garden and shopping. Logan is going to think that’s all we do is go to lunch and go shopping. He is a very good shopper. Logan
loved the attention and smiled lots for Kristi.
